    Arrival to Fes

    Greeting at Fes airport, transfer to your hotel or Riad to rest and chill in the beautiful corridors and colourful mosaics.

    Fes Tour

    We will see the spiritual and intellectual capital of Morocco. Fez’ founder is the Sultan Idriss I in the twelfth century. It functioned for hundreds of years as the cultural capital and the capital of the empire of Al Mowahad dynasty stretching from Timbuktu in Mauritania to Andalusia. Therefore, it is one of the most important imperial cities enclosing a rich history and crafts. Moreover, it is one of the largest medinas in the Arab world. Our expedition will lead us through the maze like streets to see Madrasas, souks (remarkable by the amount and variety of spices being sold), Qaraouine University, the oldest in the world, mosques, plazas, Andalusian neighbourhoods, palaces and museums. Hence, Fez is the artisan capital of Morocco. Finally after dinner, we will stay overnight at the Riad

    After breakfast, we will continue our Fes Sahara Desert Tour to the Middle Atlas Mountains. We will stop in the charming town of Ifrane, also called the Switzerland of Morocco. Then we will cross the great cedar forests. Heading further south, we will pass the mountains of the High Atlas. Then we will arrive to Er-Rachidia. Few minutes’ drive from Er-Rachidia the canyons of the Tafilalet starts to majestically uncover itself. Later on, we will reach Erfoud to see some fossils testifying the sea that used to cover the region. From here the asphalt disappears, Saharan tracks adobe reach the village of Merzouga where we will finally have dinner and spend the night at the hotel.

    Today we will explore Erg Chebbi more deeply. On this Fez Sahara Desert Tour, we will visit the town of Khamlia to discover small villages and inhabited houses in unexpected places far from civilization. We will also visit nomads living in the middle of the desert to take us with them in the evening and leave the 4×4 ride to spend the night in the desert under the Milky Way and the Pole Stars.     Early in the morning and after breakfast, we will depart to Rissani and old Sijilmassa, the ancient destination of caravans from the Sahara. Our Fez Sahara Desert Tour will take us through a semi-desert landscape to reach the oasis of Tinghir- one of the most beautiful places in Morocco. Then we will pass the Todra River and the impressive gorges that reaches over 300m. After that, we will visit the villages along the way of a thousand Kasbahs to Ouarzazate, one of the most important cities of southern Morocco. This city is known for its intense and cinematic activities. Movies like Gladiator, Troy and The Mummy were filmed here. Our journey will continue to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. Finally, we will enjoy dinner and spend the night at the hotel.

    After breakfast, we will take the road towards Ait Ben Haddou, the queen of Kasbahs (UNESCO World Heritage). Later on, we will visit one of the most beautiful sites of Morocco, Kasbah of Telouet an ancient palace of Glaoui Pasha of Marrakech. Afterwards we will continue our Fez Sahara Desert Tour, passing through the port of the highest mountain in Morocco – Tizi- Ntichka (2,260 m) to reach the imperial city of Marrakech. Finally we stay overnight at our local Riad .

    After breakfast, we will spend the whole day wondering in Marrakech mystics. In fact, the stories tell that this city was inhabited by a tribe on the other side of the Atlas, with large supplies of dates. Called” the red city”, Marrakesh painted red for mystical reasons. It is known for its green gardens, watered by underground wells (khettaras), which were built by the Almoravids and Saharan nomads in the eleventh century. We will visit the Menara, the Kasbah, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace and the Koutoubia. Moreover, the blue Majorelle Gardens and souks are some of the unavoidable visits. Later on a unique experience will be awaiting for us to discover the square” Jemaa El Fna” where life and activity of the city is intensified: dancers, storytellers, jugglers, artisans, merchants, and snake charmers. Then we will stay in Marrakech overnight in a local Riad.

    Marrakech - Departure

    After breakfast, we will go to the airport of Marrakech or Casablanca, end of service.

What to Remember

Please be sure to bring warm clothing in the winter (no sleeping bags are required), light clothing in the summer, sunscreen, a hat, good walking shoes, a flashlight, and trousers (for the camel trek). Shorts and skirts are not recommended for the trek as the saddles can cause skin irritation.
